Local Law Firm Members Honored

Wayne L. Maffei and Natalie T. Bussan, partners in the Cross, Jenks, Mercer & Maffei law firm in Baraboo, have been included in the 2009 Super Lawyers and Rising Stars listing of outstanding Wisconsin attorneys compiled by Law & Politics and the publisher of Milwaukee Magazine.

Wayne Maffei was named a Wisconsin Super Lawyer for a fourth consecutive year. The designation is awarded to the top 5% of Wisconsin lawyers as rated by other lawyers and independent review and evaluation. He was one of only 22 lawyers awarded the Super Lawyer designation in the practice field of General Litigation. Attorney Maffei is Board Certified in the Specialty of Civil Litigation and has an AV rating, the highest rating possible, from Martindale-Hubbell, the authoritative resource for information on the worldwide legal profession. Attorney Maffei’s practice focuses on accident litigation for accident victims and defendants.

Natalie Bussan was named a Rising Star, a designation given to the top 2.5% of attorneys who are 40 years old or younger, or have been in practice ten years or less. Candidates are selected based on outstanding achievements including verdicts, settlements, transactions, experience and professional activity. Attorney Bussan’s practice includes employment law, litigation and representation of local governments and individuals with regard to governmental matters.

Cross, Jenks, Mercer & Maffei is a firm of eight attorneys practicing in the areas of accident and business litigation, divorce and family law, wills and estate planning and real estate law. Founded in 1889, it is Sauk County’s oldest continuing law firm and celebrated its 120th anniversary in 2009.

The firm is located at 221 Third Avenue in Baraboo in a building constructed in 1910. The exterior was recently restored with assistance from the Sauk County Historical Society by its President, Paul Wolter, who advised the firm on color selection and design.
