Firm Overview
Cross, Jenks, Mercer and Maffei has been providing quality legal services since 1889. Our current offices are located in historic downtown Baraboo, and once housed a wagon shop and dance hall in the early 1900's.
Our firm is the classic "big fish in the small pond." Originally, our firm practiced primarily in the area of civil litigation, representing insurance companies, banks, and local businesses. While these clients could have certainly found attorneys in Milwaukee and Madison, they recognized the importance of finding the very best attorneys in a small community that could connect and relate with their customers and local juries, when necessary. Our firm excelled and gained an extremely strong reputation throughout Wisconsin. This tradition continues today.
Cross, Jenks, Mercer and Maffei's patriarch, Clyde C. Cross, who passed away in 1994, was legendary in his masterful trial practice skills and unassailable integrity. His legacy lives on with the remaining members of the firm.
Although the firm was once primarily litigation based, the firm has diversified to meet the growing needs of our clients. Each attorney has focused his or her training and expertise on various areas of the law, and is well respected in the legal community throughout the State of Wisconsin. By hiring an attorney at Cross, Jenks, Mercer and Maffei to represent you in your legal matter, you are in fact hiring a team of eight extremely qualified attorneys with diverse backgrounds and areas of practice.
